Psychology of Colour in Marketing

Psychology of Colour is a tool, commonly being used in marketing today, to make your business stand out. Believe it or not, colours have the power to cue various emotions, and portray your business’s personality. Colours can be an effective tool when harnessed correctly. It’s important to understand colours and the stereotypical associations placed on them.

Psychology of Colour

It is a powerful colour and is an excellent way to gain the attention of your audience very quickly. The word red is often associated with both “Speed” and “Courage”. Emotionally red reflects passion, desire, energy and love.

Green

Harmony, balance, a clear sense between right and wrong. Green represents the balance between logical and emotional. Green is commonly seen in nature, and therefore reflects life, rest and health. Green does possess the potential to represent materialism as seen in money. The word green heavily reflects trust and security, while emotionally it evokes freshness, healing and fertility.

BlueScreen Shot 2018 05 03 at 4.51.00 pm

Trust, dependability, reliability and responsibility. Blue evokes a mental response, unlike red and its physical reaction. Blue allows us to destress, relax and be calm. Blue however can also be seen as cold and distant. Because of its soothing nature, blue is often found in medical facilities and day spas. The word blue has associations with Trust, reliability, high quality, security, courage and high tech. Emotionally blue conveys peace, tranquility, loyalty, trust and intelligence.

How many of these did you know? Do you agree or disagree with any of the colour assumptions?
Psychology of colour is a very clever tool because we are unconscious to the influence it has on it. A very sneaky and effective marketing technique.
